Mustafa Ja’far studied painting and design in Baghdad and Rome. He also studied calligraphy under the eminent Iraqi master calligrapher Hashim al-Baghdadi. In 2002, he wrote The British Museum's Arabic Calligraphy: Naskh Script for Beginners, and in 2004, Mustafa held an exhibition of his works at The British Museum. His most recent exhibition BLACK WORDS IN RED INK: Iraq War in a Calligraphic Installation was held in London, June 2008. Mustafa teaches calligraphy at Birkbeck College, University of London. His works have been acquired by The British Museum, as well as many private collectors in Europe, North America and the Middle East. Click here for more about his latest exhibition.
